SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS

1. Purpose of practicum

Dreaming to become an international teacher who well-educated and have been gain culture exchange, this program really is help me to develop my English skill. During this program, I was speaking English in daily, furthermore I got an opportunity to expand my English skill. Even though English accent between Indonesian and Thailand people are whole different, yet it was very helpful to expand knowledge about more pronoun of local people and got bunch of vocabulary for myself.

With this SEA MEO Internship Program, undergraduate of student-teacher are able to have an experience to teach and learn abroad in South East Asia countries.

2. Procedures of practicum

There are four steps of teaching on my 1 month in Chiang Mai Rajabhat University Demonstration School:

· Observation

The day after landed in Chiang Mai, I was observed CMRU SATIT right away. Observation time was held in one week, it was the first week. On Monday, I was observed how teachers and school staffs welcoming students every morning. Therefore, i learned how the teaching procedure in CMRU SATIT by sat in behind of the class.

· Teaching assistant

Second week I was became a teaching assistant of Teacher Joy. She was so kind and heartwarming. As a teacher assistant, I tried hard to helped Teacher Joy to doing and organize her class. I was assisted for every English Class she attended from 4th grade until 6th grade.

· Practice teaching

I was started practice teaching in 3rd week as a student-teacher in 5/2. I was given a work “table” in there, hence I easily to reached out of the class.

· Evaluating

Evaluating was did by mentor and teacher mentor. It was in 4th week in CMRU SATIT. Mentor was evaluated the Lesson Plans and Teaching method of student-teacher.

3. Outcomes of practicum

During stay in Chiang Mai, especially CMRU SATIT. I was making friends with lot of Thailand teachers and students. I also engage relationship with some of student-teachers from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. I have lot of experiences of how is Thailand people live and culture. It is such an entirely new world for me, yet it is so incredible.

Students are so joyful and heartwarming. They are willing to tried hard of how to communicate with me, even when they not really into English, thought. Students and school were very welcoming me as a student-teacher from Indonesia hence class were very enjoyable.

4. Challenges of practicum

There were some problems I faced when I was in Chiang Mai, especially in 1st week. It was such a shock-without-warning for me to dip into entirely different environment. The most underline problem is food problem. As a moslem, I must be only able to eat halal food. Halal food is only qualified by an organization which headed by moslem. During my stay at Tambon Chang Phueak, Chiang Mai, Thailand it was so hard for me to find some halal food since mostly people able to eat ham while I am not. It was my first time in forever to give that much struggle to get some meal. moreover, there was a problem which has collerationo with this program. which we were strictly allowed to take documentations during this program while we were in Primary School. Yet, I take that as an entirely new experience I ever have in 19 years I live. It is a good-bad memories that I will keep in my heart.

5. Overall impression

This SEA Teacher internship program truly is aid to develops teaching skills and pedagogy based to the objectives of the program. Pre-service student teachers are encourage to practice English skills and gain broader regional and world view. Moreover, student teachers are enable to exchange the culture with open minded and positive attitude.

6. Suggestion for future improvement

SEA Teacher program such is an incredible program for student-teachers. Nowadays, open-minded teacher with digital skills and experiences would be prioritize by the government. Next generation of us depends to how knowledge they got from environment and teacher, especially for early age. Therefore, well-educated teacher needs for nowadays. Hopefully this SEA Teacher program could take more attention and become a desire able program for student teacher in South East Asia.
